Jagex Permanently Bans Twitch Streamer For Telling A Suicidal Person To Kill Themselves On Air

Jagex Permanently Bans Twitch Streamer For Telling A Suicidal Person To Kill Themselves On Air

A YouTube streamer named "Aus_Swag" has been permanently banned from RuneScape after an incident when, while playing the game, he made a phone call to a suicidal person. According to Dexerto.com, Aus_Swag was asked by a friend to phone a suicidal woman "for advice and support". He did so during his RuneScape stream and, rather than offering support, "he instead simply states, 'I think you should just kill yourself'" while laughing along with other participants in the call.

After the incident was reported to the RuneScape team, they took to the game forums with the following post:

This morning we became aware that over the weekend a RuneScape player had live streamed himself calling a vulnerable individual who had admitted they were having suicidal thoughts, telling that person to kill themselves. The RuneScape player is not someone with whom Jagex has – or ever had – a business relationship but given the incredibly serious nature of the incident we have taken measures that make it clear such behaviour will not be tolerated.

As a result, the individual has had their RuneScape account permanently banned with immediate effect. Jagex is incredibly passionate about mental health and wellbeing, and we will continue to do all we can to help those in our community – and beyond – receive the support they need to overcome the mental health challenges they face in their day-to-day lives.

It also appears that Aus_Swag's Twitch account has been banned as a "removed content" notice is present when accessing the URL.

Since that time, Aus_Swag has issued an apology, (see below) but does stop to offer a recorded conversation where he asks the woman if she remembered him saying she should kill herself. She says no.

"First off, I'd like to say that I am sincerely sorry for my actions last night on stream.

"I had called a girl who is suicidal and said, "I think you should kys" which was a careless attempt at a joke. When doing this I had my phone's microphone muted because I never intended to try and put her or anyone at risk.

"I understand that suicide is a truly serious issue and has a widespread effect on everyone."

Subsequently, Aus_swag also made a $200 donation to Beyond Blue, a suicide prevention charity.

Path of Exile 2019 Roadmap Detailed

Path of Exile 2019 Roadmap Detailed

Shortly after releasing the new Betrayal expansion, Grinding Gear Games outlines the immediate and distant future for action RPG Path of Exile.

Path of Exile is getting four major updates in 2019, all of which will adhere to GGG's familiar content rollouts including challenge leagues, new features, fresh class skills to keep combat nice and momentous, as well as basic fixes and QoL improvements. While no exact details were given on the updates themselves, a timeline was confirmed:

  • v3.6.0 - March 2019
  • v3.7.0 - June 2019
  • v3.8.0 - September 2019
  • v3.9.0 - December 2019

The developers also hope to release the next mega-expansion in 2020 with content that rivals huge content drops like Betrayal and Fall of Oriath. GGG is careful to say that a release date hasn't been locked into place, though.

"While working on the 2019 updates, we also hope to make significant progress on the 4.0.0 mega-expansion, likely coming sometime in 2020. Development of 4.0.0 is a massive task and is absolutely affected by our desire to continue to release sizeable leagues at our usual pace, so we are taking our time and making sure it's ready before we decide on a release date."

Path of Exile is still going strong thanks to GGG's careful engagement maintenance and successful monetization strategies, and we should see tons of new content roll out as the game continues turning the F2P sector's gears. The game's ironclad success caught the attention of Chinese juggernaut Tencent, who bought a majority stake in Grinding Gear Games to ensure the game's longevity.

The ARPG is also expected to reach Sony's 80-million strong PS4 userbase when it releases on the platform next month.

MapleStory 2 Devs Determined To Remove Toad's Toolkit At The End Of This Month And Roll Out A Replacement

MapleStory 2 Devs Determined To Remove Toad's Toolkit At The End Of This Month And Roll Out A Replacement

Dear Maplers,

As mentioned and highlighted in the last blog, we are converting to a different blog schedule based on need rather than a set weekly cadence. Today we have an announcement to make that relates to a more immediate topic: Toad's Toolkit and its substitute.

Toad's Toolkit was an experiment that the devs felt addressed our community's concern about the speed of gear progression. They took this direction, along with adding Adventure Dungeon reset counts, after reviewing community feedback.

Today, we see that with a mass of in-game activities currently existing in the game, completing Hard Adventure Dungeons appears to be a daunting task to finish within a week.

To alleviate the concern, after Toad's Toolkit expires on January 31st, we will also take down the Adventure Dungeon reset counts. Instead, we will add the new Dungeon Delight Event which will grant Double Drop for clearing Hard Adventure Dungeons. This event will be ongoing until the end of March

Details

The following will come to an end on January 31st:

  • Toad's Toolkit won't drop from Hard Adventure Dungeons anymore.
  • Existing Toad's Toolkits will expire.
  • The Adventure Dungeon rest count per week will be permanently removed.

The following will begin January 31st:

  • Dungeon Delight Event starts, granting Double Drop for all Hard Adventure Dungeons. This event will run until the end of March.

We assure you that this is an interim adjustment until more permanent changes can be introduced through the new feedback initiative mentioned in our last blog.

While some players may actually have a preference for this event, we know that this is not the perfect measure to fit the needs of all players, especially those who have been completing all 60 Hard Adventure Dungeons weekly. We reckon that with this change, it will now take half the time for you to complete dungeons and get the same amount of rewards (except for Normal/Hard Adventure Bonus Boxes and Mesos) as you would have gotten completing 60 Hard Adventure Dungeons previously.

We acknowledge both the pros and cons of this change. However, we remain hopeful that the topics we bring to the table through our feedback initiative in February will alleviate the problems the game is facing and resolve many of your concerns.

Thank you for being patient with us. See you in the game!

MapleStory 2 Has Already Opened Up A 3-Month Feedback Collection Project Towards The Community

MapleStory 2 Has Already Opened Up A 3-Month Feedback Collection Project Towards The Community

Dear Maplers,

Now that we’ve finished releasing Skybound Expansion’s Phase 2, it’s time to focus on changes we can make in the new year! I would like to discuss a few important topics, including a new feedback initiative and our communication plan going forward.

It has been about a month and a half since we announced our plan to focus on making improvements to the game’s overall progression. We reviewed (and are still reviewing) community feedback from all channels, and have been discussing many different changes.

Most of these systems are interwoven, and we are continuing to perform an extensive review of how any changes would impact overall gameplay balance. We previously did not disclose details because we wanted to mitigate speculation or potential misunderstanding as a result of sharing only a few high-level concepts. The MapleStory 2 team has agreed to share the general schedule of the plan, along with the systems we are reviewing in order to provide clarity on the kinds of changes you can expect. Once we have more details for each topic, we are going to share in-depth info with you through a new outreach program.

Program Overview

We will soon be kicking off a 3-month project where we actively work with the MapleStory 2 community to gather feedback as we make changes to the major pain points of the game. Below are the phases for feedback gathering:

  1. We will share with you the full details of our proposed solution to an issue and why we believe that a solution is the most viable one available.
  2. At that time, we will gather your feedback regarding the proposed solution to see if there are any further adjustments to include with the update.
  3. We will share the final decision after all the feedback from the community has been reviewed, prior to the changes being released.
  4. We will update the game with the solution that’s been reviewed by the community.
  5. Rinse and repeat!

As a part of this initiative, we are planning to open up a dedicated microsite in February where the proposed solutions will be revealed and discussed. Please keep an eye on our social channels for a link once it’s live.

What is Being Reviewed and Discussed

The goal of the project is to improve the overall ecosystem of MapleStory 2, including progression and the in-game economy (both Mesos and items). We want to ensure that players are seeing enough progress when investing time in the game, while also ensuring that players are having fun. We hope to achieve both by making a number improvements of varying scope to the game.

The following are some of the bigger topics we will be reviewing. Details for these topics and how they will be adjusted will be shared in the near future:

  • Enchanting Improvements
  • Gemstone Upgrade Improvements
  • Socket Opening System Improvements
  • Addressing Meso Economy by
    • Adjusting Meso Sinks
    • Introducing Meso Market (with adjustments from other services)
    • Introducing Gear Trade (with restrictions)
  • Epic Pets Improvements
  • Gemstone Related Resource Gathering Process Improvements
  • And more

We will provide the community with more details regarding these changes soon, so, for now, we ask that you hang tight and try not to jump to conclusions yet.

We are cautious about sharing some of these early plans as we know that players have many different ideas about how to address each topic. We ask the community to respect the development studio and let the studio lead the discussion for each topic, and we hope that this allows us to reach the best resolution for the game.

We are aware that one of the major topics of player concern regards the addition of more guaranteed methods to obtain bonus stats. However we want to make clear that with the above changes we will be discussing with the community, we strongly believe that the random aspects of bonus stats should stay in the game as part of gear progression. This won’t be discussed or changed in the future.

Please note that just because a topic is not currently on the list to review, does not mean that it may never be reviewed in the future. We know there are a handful of other items not included here that are also important to the community, and we do hear your concerns. The topics we are mentioning here today are those that we can confidently reveal as areas we plan to address.

Timeline

This is a 3-month project because all of the topics we are going to discuss can significantly impact the game progression. We want to take the time to thoroughly review and QA each system before any changes get applied to the live servers. This ensures that we hit the marks we’re aiming for, as well as preventing multiple changes from interacting with each other in unexpected ways.

Here is how the timeline looks currently:

  • Early to Mid February: Detailed discussion begins about a few of the topics from the list.
  • End of February or Early March: The first update occurs based on the feedback from February. This update is currently planned to focus on the Gemstone Resource Gathering Process, Meso Economy and more.
  • Early March: Discussion starts for the topics which require a more thorough review, including Enchanting, Gemstone Upgrade, Socket Opening, and Epic Pets. These discussions will take more time because of all the system details.
  • Mid to End of April: The next update occurs based on the feedback from early March. Players will have time to test out and experiment with the new progression, including all the changes from the feedback initiative before our next major expansion comes out.
  • May: Host community events (either online or offline) to discuss the content coming in the next major expansion and the feedback received.
  • End of May or Early June: The next update occurs, coinciding with the release of a new major expansion.

Please note that all schedules are subject to change, based on future discussions, development schedules and results.

While we are going through the feedback process, we will continue to run events and release other quality-of-life improvements into the game.

The MapleStory 2 team truly cares about the game and we are moving as fast as we can to make meaningful changes. As we stated last year, we want to take the time to fully review the ecosystem of the game. We are committed to making great changes that affect the entire game, rather than releasing hotfixes to one feature that may negatively impact a different feature.

We have been keeping a weekly cadence of producer blogs to provide regular updates to the community. However, starting with this one, we are going to transition to producer blogs released whenever we have topics to share or discuss in detail with the community. This doesn’t mean we are reducing overall communication since we will have many topics to discuss moving forward with this project.

We are very excited to initiate this new project with the MapleStory 2 community! Please stay tuned for when we share the first discussion topics soon. Your continued constructive feedback will be instrumental in making this project a success. Together we will review and pursue the best solution for the game.

If you are not satisfied enough with the amount of currencies you have been rewarded with from dungeons, quests, Markets, Vendors, including Mesos, Merets, Onyx Crystals, Treva, Rue, Havi Fruit, Blue/Red Stars etc, there is a special place for you to pay a visit and benefit from - MMOAH. Introducing Old School RuneScape - Now With Beginners’ Tips!

Introducing Old School RuneScape - Now With Beginners’ Tips!

When it comes to video games, 2018 rolled over us like a tidal wave of nostalgia. Pokémon took us back to Kanto. A sequel for Shaq Fu was even announced. And for some of us, the biggest nostalgia news of all was that classic RuneScape popped back up, now on Android devices.

The official name of the game is Old School RuneScape. Functionally, it’s a near-perfect flashback to the state of the game circa 2007. Jagex, the developer of the mobile version, promises that over time, OSRS will get the same incremental improvements that were made to the original RuneScape after that date. For right now, what we have is the public beta version of classic Old School. For right now, this treat is Android-only. Eurogamer says that it should show up on iOS devices “later in the summer.”

There are some qualifications on this nostalgia trip. The beta is only open to people with an active RuneScape membership. The developers are also capping the number of mobile downloads of Old School RuneScape. This is an understandable (if potentially frustrating!) step. Since the game is still technically being tested, it makes sense that the developers want to keep the population manageable. After all, there’s not really any doubt that tons of gamers will be interested in the game.

Jagex noted that they will be bumping up the number of available installs steadily as they grow more confident in the software. Increases could be starting as soon as next week, and it’s reasonable to expect the total population to grow organically.

The absence of an iOS version of Old School RuneScape seems to be due to software issues. The iOS build is significantly less stable than the Android version. Jagex says the iOS version is still struggling to achieve “continuous, uninterrupted service.” The developers are committed to bringing the game to Apple devices; their delay is simply due to wanting to deliver a proper RuneScape experience.

If you managed to snag an Android download of Old School RuneScape, you may be interested in our beginners’ tips:

Start The Game From The Female Side

Grinding is an issue in virtually all RPGs. Old School RuneScape, with its profusion of individually-levelled skills, has tremendous potential for being far grittier than the average modern game. A lot of our recommendations come down to avoiding grinding wherever possible, and one of the first steps you can take is to choose “female” during character creation. This decision isn’t cosmetic; female characters enjoy access to an exclusive quest (“Recruitment Drive”) on Tutorial Island. The low-level boost it gives you is quite handy. Don’t worry if your heart’s desire is to play a male character; you can buy a gender change later on with gold.

Quest Smarter, Not Harder

Still, in the “steer clear of grinding” category, we recommend that you seek out the early quests that deliver significant stat bonuses. Lots of players know about the “Waterfall Quest” at Baxtorian Falls. Complete it early enough and you can push Attack and Strength XP up by 30 levels. “The Knight’s Sword” is another great example with slightly more complex requirements. To complete it, you’ll need to have 10 mining. Once you do, though, it delivers enough XP to boost your Smithing up to level 29. If you can get good enough you can go pro – read about how to make real money with OSRS

Embrace Your Inner Bully

If completing fetch quests isn’t your ideal way to earn XP, consider beating up on the right monsters, instead. The barren beach region north of Rellekka is home to the humble Rock Crab. These critters are equipped with tons of HP, but they’re not capable of doing much damage to you. You can bash them endlessly to earn combat XP.

If you take full advantage of these tips, you can get off to a faster, more enjoyable start in Old School RuneScape. Buff your stats, bully the Rock Crabs, and have fun! When you’re ready for bigger challenges and money-making ideas, take a peek at this video.

Final Fantasy XIV Rolls Out The Blue Mage Limited Job

Final Fantasy XIV Rolls Out The Blue Mage Limited Job

Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 4.5 launched last week, which means its time for the official reveal of the highly anticipated Blue Mage limited job. Blue Mage is the first “limited job” to be introduced to Final Fantasy XIV and is available to players who have a level 50 disciple of war or magic class and have completed the main scenario quest “The Ultimate Weapon” for A Realm Reborn. You can pick up the job by taking on the quest “Out of the Blue” from the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks.

Unlike other jobs introduced into FFXIV post-launch, Blue Mage is designed as a solo experience. Players learn job actions by fighting monsters, mimicking their abilities in battle. Players can even take abilities from major bosses like Shiva, which makes Blue Mage a pretty devastating, but versatile combat class.

Blue Mage will initially be limited to a max level of 50 and can learn 49 unique monster abilities, though the level cap and number of abilities players can learn will increase in future game updates.

If running around smacking monsters alone isn’t quite enough for you, Blue Mage players can challenge themselves in the exclusive Blue Mage instance called The Masked Carnivale. The instance challenges players to complete a total of 25 unique stages with weekly rewards available for those who choose to re-enter the Carnivale. Players can enter the instance upon reaching level 50 as a Blue Mage and completing all Blue Mage job quests.

Blue Mage isn’t the last thing to come to FFXIV before the summer expansion, though it does come close. The finale of the Stormblood storyline will arrive in late March with Patch 4.56, which will set up the Shadowbringers expansion.

You can check out the Blue Mage reveal trailer below.

Recent Adjustments In The Black Market And Trading From MapleStory 2

Recent Adjustments In The Black Market And Trading From MapleStory 2

Last November, MapleStory 2 issued scheduled maintenance—as they always do per patch—to further improve the game. This time around, there are changes that have been made involved the Black Market in order to eliminate Meso farmers who sell and buy Maplestory 2 Mesos.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with what the Black Market is in MapleStory terms, the Black Market is where players can list their own sellable items and purchase other players’ listed items for Mesos. The Black Market has been open to all until the latest update came around and set a limit as to who can go to the market.

Black Market: No Longer a Free for All

Perhaps the most damning change that the developers of MapleStory 2 have brought to the audience is that in order to list an item on the Black Market or initiate a trade with another player, you must be at least level 60 to do so. Hitting the nail in the coffin, only level 50 players or higher are able to purchase an item from the Black Market or accept trades from other players.

Why the Sudden Change?

According to the ongoing investigations by the developers of the game, there has been rampant unintended use of these trading systems such as the Black Market mainly by Meso farmers at low-level ranges. The result of which is a rather wobbly fluctuation in market prices, leaving the economy in shambles. Just before the update, there have been more than 20,000 malicious accounts that were banned to combat this problem. The developers are indeed working as hard as they can to restore the market balance. Clearly, Nexon is drawing the line with more restrictions against Meso sellers and transactions right now.

Is This Change Good?

While few Maplers have actually applauded this reform, most of them were understandably outraged by this update and mingled with the grievance of unfair treatment. These restrictions were generally considered to be “getting out of order” by most of the players. Although nobody would really back up for the Mesos buy and sell aspect of it, players got more furious and irate toward the new terms. This was especially the case with newcomers and old players trying to level up their characters in different servers. As new players greatly depend on saving money in exchange for basic boosting supplies that you can get in the Black Market, these kinds of market restrictions can gradually drive off the game. Even more restrictions in the future may prompt the ire of players as they’ll have to spend more time and effort just to try and reach level 60.

The real madness of this restriction is that it literally cuts loose of any legitimate transactions between low-level players in the Black Market. So a level 20 or lower player will no longer be able to buy orange potions in the Black Market. And the worst part is a player of that level (or lower) won’t be able to afford to buy those supplies and other gear as well from anywhere else because other places that offer these items sell their products at utterly ludicrous prices. Thinking about raising more money by selling some of your items to buy an item of your liking? Well, you can forget about that since you’re excluded from trades in the Black Market because of your level.

Final Thoughts

All in all, the impact of this update was definitely greater than what Nexon could fathom. The changes were supposed to sabotage the Meso farmers. Instead, the legitimate players of the game are the ones who received a bitter surprise since this damages the gameplay of players who want nothing to do with Meso trading and are only in it for the fun that MapleStory2 brings.

Old School RuneScape Patched Up The Balancing Issue Of In-Game Konar Loot Table Preliminarily

Old School RuneScape Patched Up The Balancing Issue Of In-Game Konar Loot Table Preliminarily

In response to your feedback, we would like to tweak Konar's loot table in a cold fix later today in preparation for the weekend. This would not be a major overhaul but should address the main concerns to give us time to collect more data. Further adjustments can be made next week pending the results of these changes and further suggestions. The average value of rolling on Konar's loot table would be reduced by 30%, reducing the highest value drops by spreading it out more evenly. This means quantities of certain drops would be reduced. We're also looking to swap out some skilling drops for alchables. Below is the current loot table:

Konar's Unique table is accessed at a rate of 1/100 for level 100 NPCs and 1/50 for level 350 NPCs. This contains the broken Dragon hasta and used to contain 2,500 Saradomin brews which were removed shortly after the update.

Key feedback included our aim to reduce drops that are normally produced by skilling. We would also like to add alchables and uniques. Below is a list of the changes we would like to make.

  • Add a new Mystic set with a Mount Karuulm colour scheme
  • Add Coins as a potential drop
  • Add Rune armour to more evenly spread the value of the drops and act as alchables with a stable value
  • Replace high-value herb drops with seeds.
  • Replace the raw shark drop with a fish drop. The type given will depends on your Fishing level

There is potential for further uniques - ideas so far include Konar's equipment: her shield and an ornament kit that could be added to the Dragon hasta to make it resemble the one she uses. Let us know any other ideas you have for new uniques that could be put on the loot table!

If we went ahead with the above changes, the new table would look like this:

After the changes, Konar's Unique table would be accessed at the same rates. Both the Dragon hasta and the Mystic subtable will be a 1/200 chance. In the Mystic subtable, each Mystic piece has an equal chance of being rolled.

In retrospect, we realise that a better loot table could have been designed by working with the community during the development process. Following these changes, we'll look to work with you all to see exactly what finer tuning is required and commit to involving you all with this sort of thing in future. With your help, we'd like to make sure we get this right as soon as possible.

Get involved in the discussion with us on Twitter and the dedicated Reddit thread to have your say on both the changes above and further tweaks.

Will Fortnite Continue Its Upward Curve In 2019?

Will Fortnite Continue Its Upward Curve In 2019?

The boss of the gaming company that created Fortnite is now the world’s 196th richest man after amassing a $7.2 billion fortune. That puts Tim Sweeney above famous billionaires like George Lucas and George Soros in Bloomberg’s annual list of the world’s 500 richest people. It comes after a wildly successful year for his firm, Epic Games, which saw flagship title Fortnite become the world’s most popular game. It attracted 200 million players in 2018, raked in $3 billion in profits and found itself blamed for divorces, as players simply cannot get enough of it. The big question is: can Fortnite maintain its amazing momentum, continue on its upward curve and dominate 2019 in the same emphatic fashion?

It is worth noting that Epic Games does have its eggs in other baskets too. It makes the Unreal Engine, which powers some of the world’s biggest games, and it is about to launch an online store that will rival Steam, Google and Apple. Epic Games, headquartered in North Carolina, also produces the popular Gears of War series. A recent venture fundraising round saw Epic Games whip up $1.25 billion to drive future growth, and that valued the firm at $15 billion.

But Fortnite is the key product for Epic Games and it has an ace up its sleeve to help it boost its popularity even further in 2019 and beyond. It recently announced that it will provide $100 million in prize pools for the first year of competitive play in a series of esports tournaments. That program of events will begin in 2019 and it will see Fortnite instantly overtake DOTA 2 to become the richest esport in the world by a comfortable margin.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, esports is a global phenomenon. The industry was worth $906 million in 2018 and it is projected to hit $2.3 billion by 2022. There are already 380 million dedicated esports fans around the world, according to analysts at Newzoo, and that figure is constantly growing. Leading players are now millionaire superstars, replete with massive sponsorship deals from world-famous brands and enormous social media followings.

Alongside this impressive growth, an esports gambling industry has sprung up and it was worth $6 billion in 2018. That will rise to $23.5 billion by 2020 as its popularity continues to soar and increasing numbers of fans build up their expertise. The world’s leading sportsbooks have all begun to make esports central to their offerings, while dedicated esports betting websites like Unikrn.com are absolutely thriving. You can find a huge array of esports betting options at Unikrn and other sites, and that is helping drive interest and viewership growth in competitive gaming.

League of Legends, DOTA 2, Starcraft, CS: GO and Overwatch are the staples of this phenomenon, but Fortnite is muscling into the arena in bullish fashion. Turner “Tfue” Tenney, an American and a member of FaZe Clan, was the highest earning Fortnite player in the world last year, scooping $469,875 in prize money. This year the numbers the best players earn will surely dwarf that figure. DOTA 2’s long reign as the world’s richest esports title is coming to an end due to the deep pockets and boundless ambition of Epic Games.

Sweeney’s firm is determined to maintain the momentum that Fortnite has built up and see off any rivals that might emerge in 2019. If it can crack the esports market, it should be assured of a loyal fanbase that lasts the distance, preserving its status as the world’s most popular game long into the future. But Fortnite will have to overcome several hurdles.

First up, battle royale format games are a bit problematic for esports fans to follow, as they require the camera to follow a number of perspectives. This is a challenge for PUBG and any other battle royale games out there.

You also need a competitive balance and a large degree of integrity, and the launch of the Infinity Blade weapon totally ruined that for Fortnite. Epic Games held its hands up and admitted that it had messed up by rolling out a weapon that was far too powerful, without any good counters. It really needs to reassess its approach to mythic items and it cannot afford too many more high-profile missteps.

Innovation is crucial to maintaining momentum in a very competitive gaming sphere, but it runs the risk of alienating players. With the Infinity Blade debacle barely in the rear-view mirror, Epic Games added a Boom Box item that allows players to destroy any nearby builds, blowing competitive balance out of the water. Pro player CLG Wish Tweeted: ”I’m about to go play for 100K in a completely unaffiliated tournament to epic games, and Epic Games still added a game breaking item hours before it. I’m. So. Sad.

Another player accused Epic of making everything too unpredictable and screwing over the competitors, thus killing off any chances of becoming as successful in the world of esports as titles like League of Legends and CS: GO. It has not treated players particularly well in the early days, and that could come back to bite it. Fortnite is a seriously popular game in its own right, but attention spans are short in this day and age and it is easy to be quickly usurped. Just ask PUBG’s developers. Creating a thriving Fortnite esports scene would really help buffer it against such headwinds, and Epic Games really should put more effort into creating an exciting proposition that has pro players enthusiastic about it rather than complaining of social media.

Have you suffered enough from lousy equipment and limited resources in Fortnite that negligibly small to help you thrive in all competitions? Nexon Latest Penalty Annoucement Towards The Exploit Abusers In MapleStory 2

Nexon Latest Penalty Annoucement Towards The Exploit Abusers In MapleStory 2

Hi Maplers,

Recently, an exploit was identified that allowed players to move character-bound items from one character to another within their account. As a result, we disabled the ability to use the Gear Mannequins on Monday, January 7, and during today’s maintenance, we applied a fix that would prevent players from being able to abuse this bug.

During this time, we ran an extensive investigation of the impact of the exploit. Based on the results, about 108 accounts were identified as having abused this bug. Since this bug could easily be exploited and may have been done unknowingly by a player, it took time to sort out the level of abuse and to evaluate each player’s behaviour to see if there were malicious intentions.

Based on our evaluation, the most common use of the exploit was to gain benefits, such as obtaining enchanting materials or to accelerate their enchanting progress for items on their characters. We will be taking the next step and penalize those that abused this exploit. Some accounts will have multiple actions taken against them based on the criteria laid out below:

  • Varying degrees of suspension will be applied to the account based on the following level of abuse:
    • Since this exploit could easily be replicated, we identified some players who may have moved their items unknowingly. Any players that gained trivial or no benefits from this exploit will not have any action taken against their accounts.
    • If a player was identified as having used this exploit to receive benefits (such as dismantling or sacrificing items used for enchanting) in order to non-trivially accelerate their character’s progress, bans of 14 or 30 days will be applied to their account, with permanent bans being applied to the most aggressive offenders.

In addition to the above penalties:

  • If the Weapon or Armor was moved to a different character other than the one that originally acquired it, the item will be removed from the account. Enchantments and other changes made to these items will not be refunded.
  • If the Weapon or Armor was moved to an alternate character to be used for enchanting and then moved back to your original character, the number of enchantments applied during the time of abuse will be removed.

Although the following actions will be taken, please note that we will continue to review and investigate any cases that may have been missed or do not fall under the above categories. We will continue to take action if we find more evidence of abuse.

Thank you,
Nimei, Producer
