MapleStory 2: How To Make The Best Use Of Character Customization

MapleStory 2: How To Make The Best Use Of Character Customization

While the character creation gives you a generous variety to choose from for free at the start, there are also a ton more options available if you are willing to spend Merets to get them.

You can access the NPC’s to change your character’s appearance by going to the bottom right of your screen and hovering over the Life Skills icon to pop up the menu.

Dye Shop

The Dye Shop is where you go to change the color of dyeable equipment. Note that if you have an outfit/costume over that piece of equipment, there’s really no point since you’re not looking at the equipment underneath.

If a piece of equipment is dyeable, it should say so at the very bottom. Choose a piece of equipment, choose a color, and press on the “Add to Cart” button. When ready, you can purchase everything at once by clicking on the “Purchase” button at the bottom. It costs 10,000 Mesos per piece to dye.

There are a ton of colors (some of which combine two colors) that must be unlocked by getting certain trophies (you can see the requirements by hovering over the color).

Plastic Surgery Office

The Plastic Surgery Office is where you go to change your Skin Color and Face Shape and Eye Color.

Changing your Skin Color costs 270 Merets and you are given an entire row of unique colors to choose from

Changing your face shape costs 230-330 Merets (depends on the face shape), with an eye color change on your current face costing only 10,000 Mesos. There are 5 face shapes that must be unlocked by getting trophies that require you to get 500 million, 2 billion, 3 billion, 6 billion, and 10 billion EXP after reaching level 50. These 5 face shapes will also cost 30,000 Mesos instead of Merets. The eye color options are the same as the dye color options.

Beauty Salon

The Beauty Salon is where you go to change your Cosmetics, Cosmetics Color, Hair Style, and Hair Color.

Cosmetics

Changing your cosmetics cost 50 Merets. There are also 5 cosmetics that need to be unlocked through trophies that require: Completing 1 Exploration Goal, Participating in Maple Arena or Event PvP 5 times, Defeating Chaotic Baphomet 50 times in the normal Forest of Chaos Dungeon, Collecting all the joyous food trophies, and Wall climbing 50 KM. Like in character creation, if you see a gear icon on the bottom right of a cosmetic, it means that it is customizable in some way. If you see a "Free Move" option, that means that you can click and drag on your character to position it. The colors available for cosmetics are the same colors as the dye color options.

Hair Styles

Rosetta on the very far top-left corner gives you the most options for hairstyles. Like the cosmetics, remember that the gear icon on the bottom right means that you can customize that hairstyle in some way. All the hair colors available are the same as the dye color options. Changing your hairstyle costs 450-650 Merets (depends on the hairstyle) while changing the hair color on the hairstyle you currently have cost 20,000 Mesos.

Special Hair Styles

Paulie will offer a few special hairstyles that Rosetta did not, but you are forced to get a random hairstyle out of the many few available for 450 Merets. Once you randomize, you will get a Chic Salon Voucher.

On Headstart, some of these special hairstyles will be rotated out for new hairstyles. For females, the Long Velvet Hair and Cute Wave Hair will be replaced by Uneven Long Ponytail and Romantic Short Cut. For males, the Smart Cut and Braided Highlights will be replaced by Traditional Ceremonial Hair and Chic Startz Hair.

Removed

Lolly to the left of Paulie is his assistant, and will offer the same hairstyles as Paulie, but with the option to choose a hairstyle with 15 Chic Salon Vouchers that you get from randomizing hairstyles. This is to help players with bad luck who were unable to get the specific hairstyle that they wanted from Paulie. Hair colors available are the same as the others.

Saving Hair Styles

Mino on the top-right corner lets you save your current hairstyle and change between hairstyles that you have saved. Changing hairstyles to saved hairstyles cost only 10 Merets, so save any new hairstyles you get!

To see the trophies that need to be completed to unlock the locked character cosmetics, you can check out the "Face Hair Dye" section of Chaja's Data Compilation document.

Outfits

Outfits are purely cosmetic and have no effect on your stats. Equipping them will cover your base equipment appearance. This also means that if you are planning to use an outfit, there is no point in changing the dye color of the equipment that is being covered (dyeing a shoe that is being covered by a shoe outfit has no point). You can find your outfits that you are currently using by going to your Character panel and clicking on the Outfits tab near the top.

To preview an item/outfit, you must assign a key to it and hold that key while left/right clicking the item/outfit. You can assign the key by going to Options -> Controls -> Misc -> Item Preview.

If you are not satisfied enough with the amount of currencies you have been rewarded with, including Treva, Rue, Havi Fruit, Blue/Red Stars by completing all kinds of missions and quests, there is a special place for you to pay a visit and benefit from - MMOAH. It has been dedicated to the MS 2 Mesos' transactions for months since it had been released. And Prove himself as one of the cheapest product on the market when it comes to MapleStory 2 Mesos. Not only the product itself seduced thousands of players placing their orders on the website, but the service, especially the delivery of its products intrigued more and won against other companies.

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Alter The In-Game Settings

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Alter The In-Game Settings

You can go to settings by pressing your ESC key and clicking on "Options" or "Graphics". If you have unbound your ESC key, you can still go to that same menu by clicking on the gear icon on your bottom right.

Game

Camera

Show Transparent Objects

Leaving this option will make non-collidable objects turn transparent when you are on top of them.

For example, this is what hiding behind a street light looks like when the setting is turned off:
And this is what it looks like when the setting is turned on:

If you have a low-end computer/laptop, it may be useful to turn this option off, since having to render fewer transparent objects may help your frame rate.

Enable Screen Shake Effects

Leaving this option will allow certain effects, abilities, and enemy attacks to create a camera shaking effect to make them feel more impactful. Personally, I turn this off because I find it a little annoying.

Smooth Camera

This setting is responsible for the smoothness of the camera (for example, zooming in and out of your character). If you put it on the lower end, the camera will be smoother and take longer to stop moving. If you put in on the higher end, the camera will be quicker and feel more snappy. Personally, I like the camera smoothness to be on the higher end at 80%.

Max Zoom Distance

This setting is responsible for the maximum camera distance from your character. The lower the setting, the closer the max camera distance is from your character, and the higher the setting, the further the max camera distance is from your character. I personally like to have this setting at max because being able to have a wider view of the area is nice when trying to find chests and during boss fights, but some people may prefer to have it at 67% or 84% if the max is too far away.

Interface

ESC key closes all windows

Pretty self-explanatory. Having this setting turned on will make it so that when you press your ESC key, it will close all windows that are currently open.

Show guide Tooltips

I'm not exactly sure what this setting does, but if you do know, please let me know by contacting me (info can be found on the home page)

Display Help Tips

I'm not exactly sure what this setting does, but if you do know, please let me know by contacting me (info can be found on the home page)

Enable Personal Performance Meter

This setting displays a personal performance meter on the side. The yellow section will have the time elapsed since the last reset, and the total value to the right of it. There are multiple categories that you can go through with the "Change Categories" button to the left of the refresh button. These categories are Total Damage, Damage Per Second, Hit Rate, Critical Rate, Damage Taken, EXP Gained, and Mesos Gained. The refresh button will reset the time and total value. If you wish to test your DPS, you can go to your Guild House (if you have a guild), where you can find 3 dummies to fight. You can also go to the Chaos Raid Lobby where you can find dummies as well. When testing your DPS, you should click the refresh button and immediately start attacking for around a minute or so. Keep in mind that the dummies in your Guild House are in a group of 3, so it may be little hard to get single target DPS numbers there.

Enable 10-Player Dungeon Meter

This setting, when turned on, will display a bigger version of the personal performance meter for your party when you enter a Chaos Raid. It will also rank the members, so you can tell who is doing the most damage easily.

Interface Size

Self-explanatory. I personally keep mine at 50%.

Damage Transparency

This setting is responsible for the transparency of the damage numbers that appear when you deal or take damage.

Damage Size

This setting is responsible for the size of the damage numbers that appear when you deal or take damage.

Restore Default Layout

This button will reset your UI position to their default positions (not your settings).

Use Mouse Controls

Turning this setting on will allow you to move your character by left-clicking. Personally, I'm not a fan, but I guess some players do like it.

Status Text

Show My Name

Turning this setting off will hide your name

Show Friendly Player Names

Turning this setting off will hide the names of friendly players. This is a useful setting for when there are too many players on your screen and is causing your frame rate to drop.

Show Hostile Player Names

Turning this setting off will hide the names of hostile players such as during PvP.

Show NPC Names

Turning this setting off will hide the names for NPCs.

Show Monster Health Values

This setting is responsible for showing the health number at the top while you are fighting a monster. Personally, I don't see a reason to turn this off.

Display Current Experience %

This setting is responsible for showing your current experience percentage at the bottom of your screen. Personally, I don't see a reason to turn this off.

Show My Character's Health Bar Overhead

Never Open Maple Guide Automatically

This setting is responsible for preventing the Maple Guide to open automatically when you have leveled up and unlocked a new Maple Guide Mission.

This setting has 3 options. First is the option to show the damage dealt numbers of all players. The second option allows you to see the damage dealt numbers of you and your party members. The third option allows you to see the damage dealt numbers of only yourself. I don't believe there is a way to hide your own damage dealt numbers.

Damage Taken

This setting has 3 options. First is the option to show the damage taken numbers of all players. The second options allow you to see the damage taken numbers of you and your party members. The third option allows you to see the damage taken numbers of only yourself. I don't believe there is a way to hide your own damage taken numbers.

Verify Meret use in Channel Chat

This setting is responsible for giving you a verification when you try to send a message in Channel Chat since it costs Merets to do so.

A bunch of block settings

Self-explanatory settings that will automatically block certain invites.

Graphics

The settings under the Graphics tab should be self-explanatory. You can also hover your mouse over the setting and it should give you a tooltip explaining it in detail.

If you want to see your ping or FPS, you can turn on the "Display FPS" setting under graphics.

Your FPS and Ping will show up in the top-left corner of your screen in the format of FPS(Ping).

Sound

The settings under the Sound tab should be self-explanatory. The only things I should mention are that the "Play Sounds in Background" option will allow you to hear game sounds while you are in another window, which is useful for when you are waiting for something while you are Alt-Tabbed, and that the "Play Instruments" setting is useful if you want to turn off player instrument sounds (for when there are a ton of people playing at the same time and are making your ears bleed).

Controls

These settings should also be self-explanatory. My personal setup is movement being WASD, menu shortcuts on F1, F2, F3, etc, and skills on the image displayed below.

To be able to hide your UI, there is a keybinding that you can set for that.

To preview an item/outfit, you must set a keybind to the "Item Preview" under Controls -> Misc. Hold the key and left/right click an item to preview it on your character.

Languages

Once again, these settings should be self-explanatory.

Path Of Exile User Current Explodes

Path Of Exile User Current Explodes

Path of Exile is a free-to-play MMORPG on Steam. It has been out for nearly five years, and in that time, it has mostly gone under players’ radar. However, a recent update to the game – Betrayal – has pushed the Path of Exile player count to the highest it has ever been.

The game now boasts an impressive 117,000 concurrent players, which is about twenty percent higher than the number has ever been. While these are not the millions of concurrent players thatPUBG or Fortnite can claim, it is still very good for a hack-and-slash RPG few have heard of.

Path of Exile’s developer, Grinding Gear Games, has never had huge commercial success. The small New Zealand studio has really only made a few games. Previous titles consisted of things like Bear vs Hunter, but Path of Exile’s success has pushed them into a different arena, even leading to their purchase by Tencent in May of this year.

The game has built a small and relatively loyal and happy following. Path of Exile currently has over seventy-thousand reviews and still holds a score of Very Positive, which is more than most games can claim.

Most, if not all, of Path of Exile’s recent success, is due to Betrayal, a massive update that has been a long time coming. The update changes factions, missions, maps, skills, hideouts, and masters. In addition to reworking or fixing older mechanics, the game also introduced a long and sprawling quest involving the Immortal Syndicate.

Players will have to quest throughout the world to find the organization’s four branches using detective work and interrogation. Players even have options to kill or persuade members of the organization to switch sides.

For a free MMORPG, Betrayal adds a huge boost to playability and variety, and a detective-esque quest that gives players multiple choices and outcomes is as innovative as it comes for the genre.

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Apply The Housing System And Build Something On Your Own

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Apply The Housing System And Build Something On Your Own

Hello, lovely Maplers! I figured I might as well redact a housing guide for GMS2!

The housing system is absolutely an obligatory feature in Maplestory2. Whether it'd be to decorate for yourself, use for life skills, or to even aim for the highly sought-after position of a "Star Architect", housing offers features that are too good to pass up.

Housing is pretty simple once you get to it. I'll start with the basics.

1. Housing Intro

Houses can be accessed by clicking the bottom right housing icon on the screen:

Once in your home there are multiple options you can choose:

Decor Score:

If you meet certain criteria there will be rewards for each threshold met. You can reach higher Interior Designer rank by the daily reward that you claim (the one that is x/1'100). It is important to obtain that every day. If you can at least temporarily reach 1'100 to claim the highest reward, that is ideal. Here is an example of rewards/criteria.

Expanding:

This allows you to expand your house size by up to a dimension of 25x25 base and a 15 height. They have recently affirmed the expanding your house is now completely free, no need to pay Mesos! If you're interested in what it used to cost before the change, look below:

Base:
unknown.png

Height:
unknown.png

Free Camera:

This allows you to view your house at any angle you please:

Screenshot:

Saves a screenshot without UI in your documents->maplestory2->screenshots.

Edit Greeting:

Can make a greeting on the top right when people enter.

Name Home:

Shows the house name when searched and shown in Star Architects.

Guest Book:

Not available in GMS2.

Budget Setting:

You can make a budget for yourself or your friends (friends can help edit your house with your permission). The Furnishing Budget gives people that you right-click their meret budget and Allow Furnishing Permissions allows them to open the furnishing interface in your house. The Budget Setting allocates them a specific amount of funds that deducts as they purchase new blocks you don't already own. It won't deduct from your balance until they start buying blocks. Furnishing permissions disappear when they leave the home and must be re-assigned, and the person must be on your friend list. They cannot build blocks that you have not already yet unlocked due to Interior Designer rank.

Doctor:

This allows you to get the debuff off from dying.

Storage:

Storage for from your housing.

2. Start Furnishing

It should be noted that any blocks purchased are yours permanently. This is crucial for people who enjoy constructing a lot. If you buy 150 of a certain kind of block, you pay that fee only once, and will always be able to place 150 of that block, for no extra charge. The 151st block you buy of it will start costing money again. This is especially important for cash blocks since it means you don't have to repeatedly spend premium currency to re-buy them if you're building a new home. This will be your bread and butter. Once you enter this menu there will be the options shown below:

Start Decor Planning:

This allows you to prepare your house with no cost of anything. You'll enter a zone where everything is free and you can practice making your house before having to buy it. Once made, "Save" the template then you can try and "Load" the house and buy it once you're out of Decor Planning.

Save and Load:

This allows you to save up to 3 different houses you made. Only one can be used/shown at a time.

House Settings:

This allows you to set your background, lighting, restrictions, house view, etc:

Here are the examples of the backgrounds:

Space

Plains

Treetop

Snowy

City

Ocean

Canyon

Blank

3. Plots of Land

Function:

Plots of land are scattered throughout the Maple world. You may purchase one if you have enough Mesos and can retain the spot as long as you make the monthly fee. The house is shared and shown amongst all channels and no one else may own it. Plots of lands are not required to use the functions of the house, they are mainly used as a "door" for the public to check out your house. You do not need a plot of land however to visit others' house, you can right-click the person and go to their home, be buddies and click their home in buddy menu, link your house in chat, or even go to a house directly by clicking the home icon in the Star Architect ranking.

Customization:

You can customize these just as you would customize a part of your house.

Here are some ss of houses:

Sizes:

Plots of land come in many different sizes. The sizes I've seen are 1x2, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5.

Prices:

Prices of these houses vary but the general ranges are:

1x2 = 7m/6.7m monthly upkeep

2x2 = 14m/13.5m monthly upkeep

3x3 = 35m/34m monthly upkeep

4x4=70m/67m monthly upkeep

5x5 = 100m+/100m+ monthly upkeep

Keep in mind these prices are prone to change based on the market. I believe location is also a factor in pricing. Here's an example of a 2x2 house in a pristine spot in Queenstown:

4. Housing Features:

Star Architect:

Once a month, they rank your house based on how many nominations you have gotten. Nominations are like fame in Maplestory 1. You are allowed to nominate one house, once per day. You can nominate a house when you visit it on the top right feature:

It shows 8/336. The 8 represents how many nominations it got this month, the 336 shows the total nominations throughout its life.

Here is the Star Architect ranking:

Portals:

Going back to the "Start Building" feature, you are able to place portals in your house to any part of the map (even your friends' homes!). Portals are currently a KR BETA feature on their live servers. After placing a portal, you can hover over the portal placed and press C, giving the portal interface. Portal Name names this specific portal. This is particularly for in-house portal movement, as it lets you know which portal you're targeting the destination as. When you press C, you will see these options:
Activation: How you use the portal. Interact means you must hit your interact key to travel through it. Walk Into means you only need to walk into it for it to work.

Destination: Where it goes. In-Home leads to another portal inside your home. Map goes to any map you have already unlocked. The options are on a per character basis. As housing is shared (all characters on the account share one house) you can re-log to a different character if a character you're currently using doesn't have a map unlocked. Lastly, Friend allows your portal to teleport you to a friend's home. This is useful for creating an effect where houses are connected.

Portal: Once you choose your Destination type, this menu gives your options for each respective one.

For the testing period, portals are free of charge and can be placed any number of times.

Trigger Editor:

The Trigger Editor is a console that allows you to interact with a basic scripting interface. It's drag-and-drop style with if-then conditions and state flow. Through the Trigger Editor, you can place down levers that can be linked with operations in your home that can be normally just interacted with by standing next to them and pressing the interact key. No circuitry is involved, but you will need to learn a basic understanding of how the console codes work or your levers simply will not work the way you want them to.

States can support up to three conditional actions at a time. Meaning a trigger can activate up to three mechanisms at any given time.

Here is a detailed guide from Shimaeko: Trigger guide!

Trophies and Unlockable furniture:

Certain housing furniture is locked behind achievements. Some are just cosmetics while others can actually be used for buffs:

Life skills:

There are a plethora of life skill items you can set in your house and farm from. Life skill blocks are not that complex. As you get trophies for leveling up your professions, you will be able to place a wider variety of life skill blocks. These resources have a daily usage limit and you have a separate limit at other players' homes which is lower than your personal limit.

Maids:

Maids are able to make potions, equipment, accessories, and foods for you as long as you have the materials needed to make them. Materials can be bought in any major town.

Maids are bought with merets but require a monthly meret upkeep to keep using them.

Custom UGC Housing:

There are set templates you can draw on for a custom furniture. Some even have features that make them rotate. Here is an example of a drawn on the template

PVP:

Once you buy this house furniture:

You will be able to turn PVP on and off. Here's an example of a PvP house.

Housing-Specific Chat Commands

As the owner of your house, you'll have a few special chat commands to help your guests have a ball!

/Hostball
Anyone up for a game of super-power football (or soccer)? Typing "/hostball", followed by a whole number between 1 and 10, will summon a ball for you and your guests to play with and send flying with your attacks and abilities. The bigger the number, the bigger the ball, and if you're done with it, just type in "/hostball" again to get rid of it.

/Hostgravity
Even gravity is under your command in your house! Type in "/hostgravity" followed by a number and watch your friends get some real hang time on their jumps! "/hostgravity .5" will halve the speed people in your house fall at, while "/hostgravity 2" will get them back on the ground twice as fast!

/Card
If you've got a gathering of friends, what's better than playing a game of cards? The /card commands allow you to play a game of cards with your fellow players! Play some Poker, play Go Fish, or make up your own rules; the power is in your hands with these commands!

/card add [CardName] [X]: Adds X cards with the noted name to the deck (Home Owner only)

/card deal: Deals a random card to each of your guests (Home Owner only)

/card deal [CharName]: Deals a random card to the named guest (Home Owner only)

/card open_all: Reveals all cards in your guests' hands (Home Owner only)

/card: Shows what cards are in your hand and how many cards are left in the deck

/card discard [CardName]: Discards the named card in your hand

/card handover [CardName] [CharName]: Gives the named card in your hand to the named player

/card open: Show your cards to other players

/card open [CardName]: Show the noted card to other players

/card reset: Clears everyone's hands and empties the deck

/Roll
If cards are in play, then so are dice! Typing "/roll" into chat will automatically generate a random number between 1 and 100, and display it to other players. You can also add in a number, such as "/roll 20", to generate a number between 1 and the noted number. This can be used on any map.

/Survey
Want to get the opinions of your guests in the house? Use the "/survey" command to generate a multiple-choice poll for them to answer with the following commands:

/survey open [Topic]: Initiates an Open survey, which will report the results to all guests when complete

/survey secret [Topic]: Initiates a Secret survey, which will report the results only to you when complete

/survey add [Option]: Adds the noted option to the survey

/survey start: Sends the survey to your guests

/survey end: Ends the survey and reports the results. When all guests answer the survey, it automatically ends and reports the results

/survey: If there is an active survey, see the current results of it

/hostalarm [Message]: Displays the noted message to everyone in your house

/hosttombstone [CharName]: Kill the named player and bury them under a tombstone (incurs no revival penalty)

/hostrevive [CharName]: Instantly revive the named player

/hostkick [CharName]: Kick the named player from your house

/randomuser: Selects a player in your house at random

/randomgroup [Number]: Randomly sorts players into the noted number of groups (does not create a party).

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Hunt For And Capture Chests & What Rewards Can You Get From Chests

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Hunt For And Capture Chests & What Rewards Can You Get From Chests

There is a lack of information on chests online so here's what I know after hunting around.

Spawn

- Golden chests spawn every 10 minutes form the hour in its spawn locations. There have been a few cases where the chest does not respawn on the 10-minute mark. I'm not sure if standing on the chest spawn spot blocks the chest from spawning.

- Wooden chests have a chance to spawn in one of its spawn locations. I have a few theories of when they spawn:

  • Has a chance to spawn every hour or every 10 minutes or every 15 minutes (really hard to keep track of it, sometimes there are times where there are no wooden chests on all channels of a map for 20-30 minutes)

  • Each spawn location has their own timer for when to spawn. e.g one spawn location will have a chance to spawn a chest every hour from xx:00 while another location has a chance to spawn a chest every hour from xx:10.

  • Each map has their own spawn time. e.g. one map may spawn a load of wooden chests at the start of the hour, another map may spawn the chests 30 minutes past the hour.

- Sometimes a lot of wooden chests will spawn, sometimes only a few.

- A gold chest will never spawn in place of a wooden and vice versa.

- I've seen wooden chests disappear in front of my eyes and I have no idea why. I have never seen a golden chest disappear unless it's refreshing it spawns at 10 minutes from the hour.

Location

- Wooden chests spawn in locations that are easily seen. This tends to be:

  • Around the edges of platforms/islands/hills

  • At the top of tall trees or hills

  • Inside walls that are visible or hidden by small objects such as trees or small rocks.

  • Out in the open

- Golden chests spawn in various locations, both in easily seen spots and in ridiculously hard spots that require you to go behind structures. Each map has an achievement to find all the golden chests (hence why gold chests always spawn every 10 minutes). There is a guide for this here.

Drops/Rewards

Common between wooden and golden chests:

  • A small amount of Mesos (200-250ish)

  • Crystal fragment (100% chance of dropping). There is a low chance of getting 10 crystals and an even lower chance of getting 100 crystals.

  • Rusted key (fairly common. Visit Natalie in Tria to identify it as an abandoned mine key for the treasure dungeon).

- Wooden chests can drop voucher fragments for cosmetic related things (hairstyle, face, skin tone, gear dye, face cosmetic). These do not character bound (can be traded through the bank) and will not stack with character bound ones. This means if you have 4 characters bound fragments and 6 non-characters bound fragments, you cannot make full voucher. Out of 245 chests opened, I have found 23 voucher fragments (5 cosmetic, 2 faces, 2 hairstyles, 5 gear dye, 6 skin tone)

- Gold chests can drop mini-elixirs (25% healing). These have a fairly rare chance of dropping.

- Gold chests can also drop blue and green crystals.

Good farming locations for wooden chests

Crooked Canyon: The wooden chest behind Urza will always spawn there every 10 minutes making it an easy place to have a guaranteed wooden chest spawn. This chest will drop the voucher fragments and count towards the achievement to open wooden chests.

North Royal Road: This is a small map and has loads of wooden chest spawns. Chests seem to spawn in bulk at xx:00 and xx:05 every hour. There's a downtime from xx:30 to xx:59.

Revoldic Dam: A large map but circular making it easy to fly in a perfect loop hunting for chests. Chests seem to spawn in bulk at xx:30 and xx:40 every hour. There's a downtime from xx:00 to xx:29.

- Here's nightmarecake's data on opening many many chests.

Other notes and tips

- Chests are not instanced, if someone loots a chest that you see, you won't be able to loot it.

- You can change channels to find more chests.

- You can use the command /nextchan and /prevchan to quickly change channels to farm chests. These are variations of the same command: /previouschannel, /lastchannel, /backchannel, /prevchan, /lastchan, /backchan, /nextchannel, /nextchan.

MapleStory 2 Guide: What Are The Minigames And How To Make Them Through

MapleStory 2 Guide: What Are The Minigames And How To Make Them Through

Minigames start at XX:05 and XX:35 (01:05, 01:35, 2:05, 2:35, 3:05, etc.)

After surviving all rounds or reaching the finish line in, you will get Kay Tokens that can be used to spin the wheel in Queenstown. You will also get a buff that lasts for 15 minutes if you win, with the buff healing you for 1% of your maximum health every 2 seconds.

OX Quiz

You will spawn in the middle of the map, and be given a few seconds every round to stand on either platform to the side to answer the question that pops up. O is for True, and X is for False. Don't stand in the center when the timer runs out, because barriers will appear, preventing you from changing answers, and you will fail the minigame.

Miyu#9404 on Discord has made a very useful spreadsheet with a collection of questions and answers here.

Speed Runners

A very easy minigame. It's probably the best one for you if you want the guaranteed Kay Coin for completing/winning a minigame. There are many shortcuts and traps that you should watch out for.

Here is an example of me playing Speed Runners (definitely not the most optimal run) if you just want to see what it looks like:

Spring Beach

This is a minigame where certain blocks on the floor will shake before shooting anyone on top of them to the sky. To make this minigame easier, you can go to your settings and hide other players and their name tags. Check out Settings for how.

Ludibrium Escape

Your goal is to reach the very top floor within 3 minutes. The game requires precise timing on your jumps, since the blocks will be moving, and there will also be destroyable blocks that you will have to clear out of your way. A small tip is that when jumping across a gap between two blocks that are on the same altitude, and there is a block right above you, you can jump a little early, and even if you bump your head against the block above you, you will still move upwards once you have moved onto the gap.

Saintone's's Ludibrium Escape Guide:

Dance Dance Stop

In this minigame, there are platforms where a number will appear. If there are exactly that many players on that platform, it will not disappear when the countdown ends. When there are enough players on the platform, you can interact with the panel to create a barrier to prevent people from entering or leaving. There will also be bonus rounds where you go to a corner and interact with the circle things to start dancing, giving you bonus experience. If you need more people on your platform, try saying so, so that the people who are wandering around can join you.

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Travel The Maple World With Transportation Tools

MapleStory 2 Guide: How To Travel The Maple World With Transportation Tools

Taxis

Once you discover a map with a Taxi stop, you can then travel to and from that map through the Taxi if you pay a fee. The further you travel, the more expensive it is.

Air Taxis

You can also travel by the Rotors Air Taxi which can be used through the map by clicking on a Helicopter icon. If attempting to do this on a map that you have discovered, 1 Walkie Talkie item (can be purchased from the Meret store). If you try to do this on a map that you have not discovered, you will have to pay extra. If you have the premium membership, you will have unlimited Walkie Talkies, so make sure to fly everywhere if you do have a premium.

Land Mounts

Some of the ground mounts will have special interactions when you use your attack key. Some of these interactions will actually let you go faster, so make sure to test it out. You will get a free ground mount when you complete the Maple Guide mission for ground mounts.

Air Mounts

Of the air mounts, I ended up categorizing them into three groups.

The first is like the balloon that you are given in the Maple Guide, which allows you to up in altitude primarily, but travel very slowly in a direction.

The second is like the Rainbow Slime mount that lets you go up slowly in altitude, but lets you travel normally in any direction.

The third is like the mushroom boat mount that doesn’t go up in altitude but lets you travel in any direction very quickly.

One tip for going up in altitude very quickly is to put two altitude increasing air mounts onto two different hotkeys and repeatedly alternate between them quickly.

Swimming

Holding down your attack key while swimming will let you go faster, but take up your stamina. You can also swim in lava and poison.

Going to Tria and for Free

If you want to go to Tria quickly, you can go to your Guild House and take the portal. Of course, this requires you to be in a guild in the first place.

Portals in Your Home

In your home, you can also set up portals that can go to any map that you’ve been to previously. Simply go into building mode and put down the portal, then press the ‘C’ key. Then you change the Destination to Map and choose the location.

You can also set the portal destination to another portal in your home for home design reasons. Finally, you can set the destination to a Friend, but this will only let you teleport to their Home, and not to their location on the map.

Path of Exile Dev Talks About PS4 Pro Enhancements, Microtransactions and Switch Port

Path of Exile Dev Talks About PS4 Pro Enhancements, Microtransactions and Switch Port

Path of Exile is one of the most popular looter action RPG games you can play at the moment. Finally, it’s coming to PS4 and Pro systems. Path of Exile is a free to play game developed by Grinding Gear Games available on PC for a very long time and is now scheduled to release on PS4 in 2019.

PS4 owners are very excited and some had questions in mind which now have been answered. Gamingbolt recently got the chance to ask some common questions to the co-founder Grinding Gear Games, Chris Wilson. They asked Chris Wilson about the launch of the game on PS4 and whether the game will have any PS4 enhancements or not.

Chris Wilson was asked if Path of Exile will run at 4K/60 FPS on PS4 Pro, to which he replied by saying that it’s not going to be the case. Though the PS4 Pro owners will take advantage of the Global Illumination tech.

Global Illumination tech was described as follows.

Our Global Illumination tech (where all objects can indirectly light other objects around them according to their colour) is enabled for PS4 Pro users.

He mentioned that the game will run at a frame rate of 60 FPS on the base PS4. And it’s going to be the same on PS4 Pro as well. So there you have it, no 4K on PS4 Pro if you were expecting some big changes.

Wilson also says that they currently have no plans to bring the game on Switch. He also doesn’t have any plans to bring it to the mobile devices though he says that there’s a big market for RPG games, especially in China.

Path of Exile is also one of the games which do the microtransactions right as they are not linked to the gameplay. Gamingbolt took the opportunity to ask him that why other developers are not following them as a model.

Wilson said:

Our microtransaction model (selling only things that don’t affect gameplay) absolutely results in us making less money per player than our competitors who sell gameplay advantage. However, our players are happy and growing, which is more important to us. Any competitive game should strongly consider offering an entirely fair play field and only selling cosmetic differences.

Path of Exile PS4 release date was set for December but it has been now delayed. Path of Exile PS4 now has a new release date that is sometime in February of 2019.

As for the delay, Grinding Gear Games apologized by saying that the studio “underestimated the amount of work it would take to finish the certification process during the busy Christmas period.” They are now expecting this certifications process to finish by January so the game could finally launch in February on the PS4.

Don’t worry as the studio promises that they will take this extra time to further improve the game experience, mechanics, graphics and everything for the PS4.

Grinding Gear Games says that Path of Exile will be awesome on PS4 and that’s why we can’t wait to play it on the release date.

MapleStory 2 Guide: What Should You Be Careful With When Doing Cathy Mart Part-Time Job

MapleStory 2 Guide: What Should You Be Careful With When Doing Cathy Mart Part-Time Job

The Cathy Mart Part-Time Job is a particular daily dungeon (can clear once per account per day) that requires four players. One player is on the top side of the map, separated by a wall from the rest of the group. That player will have to go to the customers and interact with them to see what the object is that they want to buy, and your three teammates on the bottom side of the map will have to find the item, dropping it into two holes for you to pick up and carry to the customers. After the item has been dropped though, the item disappears quickly after, so be careful not to drop it when the top player is too far away.

You repeat this process several times, and you will be awarded 5 tokens that you can use to spin for vouchers and items in Queenstown (each attempt takes five tokens).

The possible rewards are...

  • 2 Hairstyle Voucher Fragments (You need 10 to create one voucher)
  • 1000 Crystal Fragments
  • 6 Elixirs
  • 1 Meso Eye Drop (Consumable, increases Meso gained from monsters by 20% for 15 minutes)
  • 1 World Chat Voucher
  • 2 Cosmetics Voucher Fragments (You need 10 to create one voucher)
  • 2 Face Change Voucher Fragments (You need 10 to generate one voucher)
  • 2 Gear Dye Voucher Fragments (You need 10 to produce one voucher)
  • 2 Skin Tone Change Voucher Fragments (You need 10 to create one voucher)
  • 1 Revive Voucher (Free revive on the spot)
  • 1 Free Rotors Walkie-talkie (Used to call an air taxi to a place that you have visited before)
  • 1 Party Summon Scroll (Used to summon all party members to one location)

Fortnite Maker Epic Takes On Steam With Its Own PC Gamee Store

Fortnite Maker Epic Takes On Steam With Its Own PC Gamee Store

Epic has announced plans to take on Steam with a PC games store of its own.

The Epic Games Store features an eye-opening 88/12 percent revenue split in favor of developers.

This is a much better deal for developers than currently available from Steam. Historically, Valve has taken around a 30 percent cut of revenue made on Steam, a figure broadly in-line with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft's cut from their own digital storefronts.

However, Valve recently announced plans to drop its cut to 25 percent once revenue from a game hits $10m, and then another drop to 20 percent for earnings over $50m. That announcement, made just a few days ago, is interestingly-timed in the context of Epic's own announcement today.

The Epic Games Store launches soon with a hand-curated set of games on PC and Mac, Epic said, and it'll open up more broadly to additional games and other open platforms throughout 2019. Epic said it's open to games developed with any game engine, not just its own Unreal. So, games made with Unity, for example, can make the cut. However, games made with Unreal will see Epic waive all engine royalties on revenue generated through the store.

Epic boss Tim Sweeney told Eurogamer over the email he's open to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launching on the Epic Games Store, despite the strained relationship between Epic and PUBG developer PUBG Corp.

Earlier this year, PUBG Corp. dropped its copyright lawsuit against Epic that had accused the company of copyright infringement over battle royale phenomenon Fortnite. PUBG, by the way, is built using Epic's Unreal engine, and both Epic and PUBG Corp. are part-owned by enormous Chinese corporation Tencent.

The Epic Games Store also has what's called the Support-A-Creator program. This is designed to connect developers with over 10,000 creators, such as YouTubers and streamers on Twitch, and rewards creators for bringing exposure to developers (more on how this works below).

While the Epic Games Store offers a great deal for developers, Epic faces an uphill challenge in taking on Steam, which currently enjoys an effective monopoly on the PC game sales market despite pressure from the likes of GOG, EA's Origin, Ubisoft's uPlay, and Activision Blizzard's Battle.net. Steam has over 100 million users, with around 10 million people online at any given moment - an enormous, established audience to sell to.

Eurogamer had the opportunity to ask Tim Sweeney some questions about the Epic Games Store via email. Here are his answers:

Can you say which publishers are signed up? Or which games it'll launch with?

Tim Sweeney: We aren't announcing the games just yet. Stay tuned.

Why is now the right time to take on Steam?

Tim Sweeney: We've been operating a storefront for Epic's own games for years. Now that essential features are in place, we're ready to open it open it up to other developers.

What do you think Steam/other platforms are doing wrong that you can do right?

Tim Sweeney: Generally, we want to enable a more direct relationship between developers and gamers, and more efficient economics and discovery. Developers will control their product pages, free of advertising for competing games. Developers will be able to reach purchasers of their games through the newsfeed and, if the customer permits, by email. Creators will help developers reach gamers in a more entertaining and fun way, so games are not so limited by storefront screen space or top-charts space.

Will you consider a streaming service as well?

Tim Sweeney: We're focusing on downloadable games.

What is your content curation policy (versus Steam) for when the store opens up more broadly?

Tim Sweeney: We'll have an approval process for new developers to go through to release a title. It will mostly focus on the technical side of things and general quality. Except for adult-only content, we don't plan to curate based on developers' creative or artistic expression.

Epic will manually curate the Epic Games storefront rather than relying on algorithms or paid ads. We believe the ultimate vector for players to discover new games will not be our storefront but creators. Viewership of creator channels has greatly outgrown any storefront.

What's the vetting process going to be like? How does a dev get their game on your service?

Tim Sweeney: We're in the planning stages on the mechanics of opening up more widely and will release those details at a later date.

What's your DRM policy?

Tim Sweeney: We do not have any store-wide DRM. Developers are free to use their own DRM solutions if they choose.

How will you handle user reviews/vote brigading?

Tim Sweeney: User reviews are still in development and the store will launch without this feature. When launched, it will be opt-in by developers. We're experimenting with other mechanisms to improve this further.

How exactly will you reward creators for bringing exposure to game developers?

Tim Sweeney: Creators earn a share of revenue from each attributable sale, either by link or by manual creator tag entry, like in Fortnite. Developers set the rate of the revenue share and Epic pays the first 5 percent for the first 24 months. Developers get immediate access to thousands of creators who can promote their titles with no friction and can automatically entitle creators to a copy of their game if they choose so.

We believe this will make a more direct and sustainable connection between game developers and content creators.

And finally... will PUBG be on the Epic Games Store?

Tim Sweeney: We would be greatly honored to feature PUBG in the Epic Games store in the future, however, there isn't any agreement in place yet.
