What makes Maplestory 2’s priest class different from those of other MMOs is that it’s a lot more rounded. Aside from its main role, which is to serve as support, it also manages to deal sufficient damage. Heck, you can even run solo dungeons as a priest! Troubled with your lack of knowledge in being one? Rest easy, because we’re here to show you the way to become an in-demand priest. In the long run, you’ll be earning lots of Maplestory 2 Mesos!

Attributes: Your Own and Your Gear’s

The first step to being a good priest is having a proper build. Thankfully, for this class, it’s super-simple: pure intelligence. Intelligence increases Magic Attack, which is your bread and butter, so it should really come as a surprise that this will be the only stat you’ll be pumping.

Next, let’s go to gear. For your equipment, have the following stats:

  • Scepter/Codex: Piercing > Holy Damage > Magic Attack > Total Damage > Magic Piercing
  • Headgear/Suit/Top/Bottom: Boss Damage > Magic Attack
  • Gloves: Boss Damage > Magic Piercing
  • Shoes: Boss Damage > Movement Speed
  • Cape: Piercing > Holy Damage > Boss Damage > Movement Speed > Critical Damage/Critical Rate
  • Belt and Earring/Amulet: Piercing > Boss Damage > Holy Damage > Critical Damage/Critical Rate

Divine Enablement: Priest Skills

As for Priest skills, here are the most important ones, as these make up the main builds:

  • Celestial Guardian – you summon a flying pig that sharply boosts your magic attack.
  • Celestial Blessing – allies within a radius around your flying pig recovers HP and receives an attack and defense boost.
  • Disciple – the duration of Celestial Guardian and the buffs for Celestial Blessings and Holy Symbol are increased.
  • Sanctuary – an AOE spell that deals damage to enemies and heals affected allies. This one deals a lot of damage and does a significant amount of healing.
  • Celestial Light –a decent-ranged damage-over-time spell that debuffs affected enemies, even bosses.
  • Holy Blast – the priest’s skill that deals the most damage. For full effect, targets must be afflicted with Celestial Light.
  • Angelic Ray – a straight line AOE that heals allies and deals damage to enemies.
  • Smiting Aura – this channeling skill, which can be held down indefinitely, deals damage and debuffs enemies in front of you.
  • Holy Relic – drops a relic that deals damage and pushes back enemies.

The Three-Fold Build Paths

For the main builds, there are three that you can choose from. The first one is the Solo Leveling DPS build. Due to the main purpose of this build, it relies on quite the number of DPS skills: Holy BlastHoly RelicSanctuaryAngelic Ray, and Celestial Guardian. With this build, you’ll be leveling up and earning a decent amount of Maplestory 2 Mesos fast.

Next is the Support Build. As the name suggests, it’s more focused on healing allies than dealing damage. Nevertheless, you’ll still be pitching in on the DPS, so it’s all good. This build’s core active skills include Holy BlastSanctuaryDiscipleScepter Mastery, and Angelic Ray. You can also choose to not have Holy Blast and use it on Angelic Ray or Healing Mastery, but your DPS will be significantly reduced, so you’re better off keeping it.

Finally, there is the AFK Smiting Aura Priest Build. This build is best for World Boss hunts, as aside from the DPS you’ll be dealing, you’ll also be increasing their attacks. Its core skills are Smiting AuraHoly SymbolSanctuaryDiscipleCelestial Blessings, and Celestial Guardian. Most of the time, you’ll be holding Smiting Aura down. Otherwise, you’ll be healing your allies.

To say that the priest is a vital class is an understatement, so it’s important that you have a solid priest build. And with these tips, there’s without a doubt that you will!

It’s a common trend for localized versions of MMORPGs from Korea to be many updates behind the original game in their home country. Maplestory 2 is no exception. It’s quite a shame, as the global version would be so much better if it already had the latest updates, including those that drop a lot of Maplestory 2 Mesos. One of those is Shadow Expedition.

Into the Shadows

If you’re reading this, we’re assuming that you’re already aware that Shadow Expedition is not yet available on Maplestory 2’s global servers. You’ll be able to use this information either later on in the future when playing on the global server or if you choose to play on the Korean servers.

Shadow Expedition is a kind of PVE raid content where players can spam skills. You can do that quite literally, as your skills have no cooldown while you’re in this dungeon. But before you even consider simply breeze through this kind of content, think again. Aside from the fact that this is a solo dungeon and therefore nobody’s coming to help you, it has a rather slim window courtesy of a three-minute timer. You must finish the entire raid before that timer runs out!

Don’t be intimidated, though, since there’s obviously a catch. After all, the Maplestory 2 devs, contrary to popular belief, aren’t sadists. To make sure that you can manage to finish it, killing enemies will aptly earn you a few extra seconds on the clock. The amount of time you receive depends on the kind of enemy you take down. But of course, if it takes you too long to kill the monsters, it will result in a huge net loss of time. That just means you can’t rely on this mechanic. Rather, it’s just there to ensure you don’t time out when you have enough DPS to finish the dungeon.

Gearing Up for the Expedition

As a dungeon designed to be run solo, all classes can definitely finish Shadow Expedition. Of course, it goes without saying that Assassin, one of the best DPS classes in the game, is among them. But not all assassins can finish this, considering the dungeon’s pretty stringent DPS requirements. To match that, here’s a build guide for this particular job class.

The first thing you need to get right is your attributes. For Assassin, Luck takes priority, as this is what increases Critical Hit rate, which is vital for this critical hit-dependent class. If you want, you can even allocate all the points you earn to this particular attribute.

When it comes to gear bonuses, the stats you should be prioritizing are the following in order: Boss DamageCritical Damage or Critical RatePhysical Piercing, and Physical Attack. Gear that boasts one of these stats can be worth a fortune, but it’s definitely going to be Maplestory 2 Mesos well spent.

Built for the Darkness

Finally, for skill builds, there are three popular types for you to choose from. For this part of the guide, keep in mind that the skill build names show what that particular build’s core skills are.

The first and most well-known is the Lucky StarsStar Chaser, and Star Flurry build. The advantage of this build is that it has great DPS, making it a reliable one that works even when your gear setup is a bit underpowered.

A less popular build is the Shadow Cutter build. Unlike the one before it, it deals more single-target damage, but the downside to this is that it has a much higher skill cap, and is inconvenient to use. This is compounded by the fact that it’s less user-friendly due to the lack of macro. Other than Shadow Cutter, Shadow Burst and Soul Grind will be your bread-and-butter skills. As previously stated, this has a high skill cap, so be ready! Lastly, this build works best when your main hand weapon is stronger than your offhand.

There’s the last build, called the Assassin Mirror Image build, which, as the name suggests, relies on all sorts of skills that create mirror images. However, this one is not advisable for Shadow Expedition. Nevertheless, you’re free to try and prove us wrong.

The Shadow Expedition will be quite a fun experience, especially when you run it as an assassin– if you manage to finish it, that is. Well, with these tips, you hopefully can!

Last month, Nexon developers introduced MapleStory 2 players to "Project New Leaf", its initiative to respond to player feedback about the game. After gathering data from the community, developers will be releasing a new patch today that removes the "Fairfight" system, "a balancing system that normalizes high-level players with lower level ones". The removal of Fairfight was the most-requested system update by the player community and provides endgame players with more exploration opportunities.

"Additionally, Trader’s Ribbons will receive updates that make them applicable to Legendary gear up to Lv. 50. When the Meso Market launches in the near future, there will be a low limit on meso trading per account. For players who purchase mesos illegally through meso sellers, there will be a permanent ban."

This is the first of several updates Nexon has planned for Project New Leaf. We'll keep you posted as more are announced.

If you are not satisfied enough with the amount of currencies you have been rewarded with from dungeons, quests, Markets, Vendors, including Mesos, Merets, Onyx Crystals, Treva, Rue, Havi Fruit, Blue/Red Stars etc, there is a special place for you to pay a visit and benefit from - MMOAH. It has been dedicated to the MS 2 Mesos' transactions for months since the game had been released. And Prove himself as one of the best sellers in the industry when it comes to the cheapest and most secured MapleStory 2 Mesos, Onyx Crystals and corelative items, plus power leveling. Not only did appeal to the products thousands of players placing their orders on the website, but got intrigued more of them its service and delivery lines and won against other companies.

The Moonlight Captain Fortress can be quite a chill and aesthetically-pleasing place–if only it weren’t such a difficult Chaos Dungeon. To make your run in this dungeon by the sea a lot easier, check out these tips! With them, you’ll be able to go through one of the more challenging PVE content in Maplestory 2.

Jobs and Numbers

For this dungeon, you need to be level 50 and have 5000 Equipment Points. For group composition, it would be best to have two Prieststwo Knightsone to two Wizards, and one ranged DPS class. With this, you’ll have a good balance of offense and defense. Such a setup should also be sufficient enough to give you some time to spare, given the 15-minute time limit.

With such a short time limit, it goes without saying that before entering this dungeon, you should think things through and determine if you have enough experience in running dungeons–especially Chaos Dungeons–or not. This is one of the tougher dungeons there is, so you should have at least intermediate or advanced knowledge and grasp of the game’s mechanics.

Getting the Grades

If you finish the dungeon without any problems, you should be able to land an A rating. However, if you want a higher rating, you’re going to need a smaller party. If you beat the dungeon with just a party of 7, you’ll get the S rating. Doing it with just four will give you an S+ rating.

As the name of the dungeon suggests, you’ll be up against the eponymous Moonlight Captain. He’s got a pretty dangerous set of skills, and you need to know how to not get killed by any of them.

Captain Got Skills

First skill has Captain Moonlight lighting up nearby tiles with the color yellow. The AOE is cross-shaped. If you get hit with this, you’re going to get dizzy, leaving you vulnerable to a follow-up attack. His second skill is a larger red AOE which deals so much damage and is damn near impossible to dodge.

Captain Moonlight’s third skill is a full-screen attack, which means there’s no way for you to physically avoid it. In order for you and your party to not get damaged, your Knight must use skills that will boost the party’s defense or reduce the incoming fray. As for the Priests, they must quickly heal whatever damage is incurred.

Captain Moonlight’s fourth skill has him summoning two mobs which will spawn from two specific points on the map. They can be quite disruptive and even deadly when not dealt with deftly. The best way to take them on is to have either the Wizard or the Ranged DPS climb the platform and take them out from a distance.

The final skill in this boss’s arsenal is that he summons two mobs which will do a spinning attack on the player. These two will lock on a particular player. To deal with this, one target must go to the area where there are spikes. This will deal damage upon these two mobs.

If you manage to take down Captain Moonlight, you’ll be getting the rewards that you deserve. Among them, the most prestigious is the Proud Glacier set. This consists of a capshoesgloves, and a sword. As for the rest of the gear, you can either use them or sell them for essential Maplestory 2 Mesos.

Chaos Dungeons are always tough the first time around. But with a bit of knowledge and experience, they’re going to be a lot less of a hassle. With these tips, your subsequent runs will be a lot like a hot knife slicing through warm butter.

Welcome to Project New Leaf! Project New Leaf is Nexon MapleStory 2 producer initiative to make MapleStory 2 a better game by addressing your concerns and feedback.

With Project New Leaf site, Nexon will be sharing in-game changes that they’d like to propose based on players' comments and will provide the earliest timeline they expect to implement such changes. Once this happens, they will set phases to go through each of the topics in order and take in additional feedback from players like you. Generally, each proposal will go through the following phases:

  1. Present achievable, in-game changes through a proposal blog based on initial player feedback
  2. Begin working on the changes while simultaneously gathering additional feedback through the links provided in each blog post
  3. Make any necessary changes to the initial proposal and share the updates through the blog
  4. Roll out the live update in-game including any new changes
  5. Close the topic once relevant changes have been made to the game

In most cases, Nexon expects it will take about a week for us to report back the finalized details based on any additional feedback they receive from you after posting the initial proposal blogs. Please know that this timeline could differ depending on the topics under review. To help expedite this, Nexon would like to ask that any feedback you provide through links on a proposal blog be limited just to the topic(s) being discussed within that specific blog.

MapleStory 2 producers and developers absolutely do want to hear your voice on all topics, because this project is all about listening carefully and making the changes players want! It’s true that not everything can happen at once, given the limitations of managing a live game. It’s also true that not every request can be granted, because they have values for MapleStory 2 that we truly believe in. However, this doesn’t mean we aren’t aware of other issues, and they do actively discuss if there’s anything we can still change to make the overall gameplay experience better for you. At the end of the day, your satisfaction playing MapleStory 2 is the utmost goal for us to achieve.

To that end, developers are opening our first Project New Leaf thread that will function as a location where you can bring in your suggestions on the topic(s) of your choice. This space will serve as a catch-all for us so that important key topics you have will not be missed and will be discussed in future iterations throughout Project New Leaf.

Last week some players who use Google third-party authentication (TPA) began experiencing issues logging in with Nexon Launcher. It appears that there were some changes on the Google side, which caused the login process to freeze when using Nexon Launcher. Logging into the Nexon website was not affected.

We’re still investigating a permanent solution to the core Google issue, that will allow players to log in to Nexon Launcher using Google TPA.

In order to provide players who use Google TPA with an alternate route to log in to Nexon Launcher, we released an update to the entire TPA system on Sunday, January 20. This provided a workaround so that players who log in using Google TPA can now log in using their email instead of on the Nexon Launcher. Here’s what to do:

  • 1) If you experience an issue logging into Nexon Launcher with your Facebook/Google TPA, please go to the Nexon website.
  • 2) Log in to the Nexon website using your existing Facebook/Google TPA.
  • 3) You may see the following message: “Sorry, but it appears that you have used that email address on another Nexon account.”
    • If you see this message, please add an additional email address (that is not tied to any other Nexon account) to your Facebook/Google TPA account.
  • 4) Once you are successfully logged in on the Nexon website, go to Account Settings.
  • 5) Create/change your password.
  • 6) Now you can use your Nexon email address and password to log in to Nexon Launcher.

Because at this time we have not yet resolved the core issue (logging in to Nexon Launcher using Google TPA), you should use your Nexon email address to log in to Nexon launcher for now.

It’s difficult to go solo on dungeons in MapleStory 2, but it’s definitely doable regardless of your job. That, by all means, includes the Assassin. And we’re not just talking about Normal Mode dungeons here, mind you. This is a Hard Mode dungeon – we’re talking about Fire Dragon.

Gearing Up for the Kill

Before an assassin can take on a Hard Mode dungeon boss, you need to give it the proper build and gear first. For your gear, make sure to have the following stats for each kind. For weapons, prioritize Piercing and then have Physical Attack, Total Damage, and Physical Piercing. As for headgear, suit, top, and bottom. Make sure to have Boss Damage then Physical Attack. Gloves should also prioritize Boss Damage, but instead, choose Physical Piercing as secondary. Another one that should have Boss damage is shoes. And lastly, for your cape, belt, and earring or amulet, go with Piercing, and then Boss Damage or Critical Rate if you can’t find any.

These gear are worth a lot of MapleStory 2 Mesos, so be ready to dish them out.

Skills and Preparation

As for builds, there are three you can choose from. From their names, you should be able to tell what their core skills are.

The first is the Lucky Stars, Star Chaser, and Star Flurry build. What sets this build apart is that it’s so efficient that you can use it even when you’re somewhat lacking in terms of gear. On the other hand, there is the Shadow Cutter build, which, unlike the former, doles out higher single-target damage. Its flaw, however, is that you can’t macro for it.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Assassin Mirror Image build. Other than the namesake skill, Shadow Burst and Soul Grind will be your core skills. Bear in mind that this is a high skill cap build, so be ready to truly play the best way you can.

Having discussed what you need to make an assassin who can singlehandedly kill the Fire Dragon, let’s move on to exactly how you’ll be able to take it down.

Before heading to the dungeon, there are two things you need to make sure of. First, that you bring a pet that does auto-potions so you can spend your time dealing damage instead of healing. Second, that your settings are lag-free. If a single millisecond of lag can cost you a run with a team, the same goes when you go solo.

Handling the Heat

As the raid begins, you’ll be able to find ledges. Use them to evade a good number of his attacks. Aside from a way to avoid getting damaged, stepping on the blue parts of the ledge removes the burn status effect.

You can also use the ledge when the Fire Dragon tries to hit you with his tail. But if that isn’t possible at the moment, you can either run or even grab onto him. If he fails to hit you with the tail, he’ll use a large-radius attack in three quick successions. Don’t you worry though; it’s quite easy to dodge them.

After that phase, he’ll start using his infamous rapid-fire breath attack, which he uses one after another. Once again, you can use the ledges to ensure you don’t get damaged. When he’s finally done, you can approach him again and resume attacking. When you do so, be careful with the leftover flames as they can be quite painful.

At the end of the first phase, he’ll be combining his regular attacks with breath attack and AOE stun attacks. It’s easy to not get hit by both, so no worries there! This is true even with the latter, as the Fire Dragon doesn’t follow up after that. Upon whittling his HP, he’ll use a one-shot laser attack. Thankfully, it’s telegraphed and therefore easy to dodge.

Finally, there’s the second part, which begins once his HP is down to 20 million. Aside from the fire breath and fireballs– which can’t be dodged, so be ready–he’ll do pretty much the same attacks. That should be easy enough for you since you know the rhythm now.

With the right gear, build, skills, and knowledge, the assassin can be alone dragon slayer.

Dear Maplers,

As mentioned and highlighted in the last blog, we are converting to a different blog schedule based on need rather than a set weekly cadence. Today we have an announcement to make that relates to a more immediate topic: Toad's Toolkit and its substitute.

Toad's Toolkit was an experiment that the devs felt addressed our community's concern about the speed of gear progression. They took this direction, along with adding Adventure Dungeon reset counts, after reviewing community feedback.

Today, we see that with a mass of in-game activities currently existing in the game, completing Hard Adventure Dungeons appears to be a daunting task to finish within a week.

To alleviate the concern, after Toad's Toolkit expires on January 31st, we will also take down the Adventure Dungeon reset counts. Instead, we will add the new Dungeon Delight Event which will grant Double Drop for clearing Hard Adventure Dungeons. This event will be ongoing until the end of March

Details

The following will come to an end on January 31st:

  • Toad's Toolkit won't drop from Hard Adventure Dungeons anymore.
  • Existing Toad's Toolkits will expire.
  • The Adventure Dungeon rest count per week will be permanently removed.

The following will begin January 31st:

  • Dungeon Delight Event starts, granting Double Drop for all Hard Adventure Dungeons. This event will run until the end of March.

We assure you that this is an interim adjustment until more permanent changes can be introduced through the new feedback initiative mentioned in our last blog.

While some players may actually have a preference for this event, we know that this is not the perfect measure to fit the needs of all players, especially those who have been completing all 60 Hard Adventure Dungeons weekly. We reckon that with this change, it will now take half the time for you to complete dungeons and get the same amount of rewards (except for Normal/Hard Adventure Bonus Boxes and Mesos) as you would have gotten completing 60 Hard Adventure Dungeons previously.

We acknowledge both the pros and cons of this change. However, we remain hopeful that the topics we bring to the table through our feedback initiative in February will alleviate the problems the game is facing and resolve many of your concerns.

Thank you for being patient with us. See you in the game!

Dear Maplers,

Now that we’ve finished releasing Skybound Expansion’s Phase 2, it’s time to focus on changes we can make in the new year! I would like to discuss a few important topics, including a new feedback initiative and our communication plan going forward.

It has been about a month and a half since we announced our plan to focus on making improvements to the game’s overall progression. We reviewed (and are still reviewing) community feedback from all channels, and have been discussing many different changes.

Most of these systems are interwoven, and we are continuing to perform an extensive review of how any changes would impact overall gameplay balance. We previously did not disclose details because we wanted to mitigate speculation or potential misunderstanding as a result of sharing only a few high-level concepts. The MapleStory 2 team has agreed to share the general schedule of the plan, along with the systems we are reviewing in order to provide clarity on the kinds of changes you can expect. Once we have more details for each topic, we are going to share in-depth info with you through a new outreach program.

Program Overview

We will soon be kicking off a 3-month project where we actively work with the MapleStory 2 community to gather feedback as we make changes to the major pain points of the game. Below are the phases for feedback gathering:

  1. We will share with you the full details of our proposed solution to an issue and why we believe that a solution is the most viable one available.
  2. At that time, we will gather your feedback regarding the proposed solution to see if there are any further adjustments to include with the update.
  3. We will share the final decision after all the feedback from the community has been reviewed, prior to the changes being released.
  4. We will update the game with the solution that’s been reviewed by the community.
  5. Rinse and repeat!

As a part of this initiative, we are planning to open up a dedicated microsite in February where the proposed solutions will be revealed and discussed. Please keep an eye on our social channels for a link once it’s live.

What is Being Reviewed and Discussed

The goal of the project is to improve the overall ecosystem of MapleStory 2, including progression and the in-game economy (both Mesos and items). We want to ensure that players are seeing enough progress when investing time in the game, while also ensuring that players are having fun. We hope to achieve both by making a number improvements of varying scope to the game.

The following are some of the bigger topics we will be reviewing. Details for these topics and how they will be adjusted will be shared in the near future:

  • Enchanting Improvements
  • Gemstone Upgrade Improvements
  • Socket Opening System Improvements
  • Addressing Meso Economy by
    • Adjusting Meso Sinks
    • Introducing Meso Market (with adjustments from other services)
    • Introducing Gear Trade (with restrictions)
  • Epic Pets Improvements
  • Gemstone Related Resource Gathering Process Improvements
  • And more

We will provide the community with more details regarding these changes soon, so, for now, we ask that you hang tight and try not to jump to conclusions yet.

We are cautious about sharing some of these early plans as we know that players have many different ideas about how to address each topic. We ask the community to respect the development studio and let the studio lead the discussion for each topic, and we hope that this allows us to reach the best resolution for the game.

We are aware that one of the major topics of player concern regards the addition of more guaranteed methods to obtain bonus stats. However we want to make clear that with the above changes we will be discussing with the community, we strongly believe that the random aspects of bonus stats should stay in the game as part of gear progression. This won’t be discussed or changed in the future.

Please note that just because a topic is not currently on the list to review, does not mean that it may never be reviewed in the future. We know there are a handful of other items not included here that are also important to the community, and we do hear your concerns. The topics we are mentioning here today are those that we can confidently reveal as areas we plan to address.

Timeline

This is a 3-month project because all of the topics we are going to discuss can significantly impact the game progression. We want to take the time to thoroughly review and QA each system before any changes get applied to the live servers. This ensures that we hit the marks we’re aiming for, as well as preventing multiple changes from interacting with each other in unexpected ways.

Here is how the timeline looks currently:

  • Early to Mid February: Detailed discussion begins about a few of the topics from the list.
  • End of February or Early March: The first update occurs based on the feedback from February. This update is currently planned to focus on the Gemstone Resource Gathering Process, Meso Economy and more.
  • Early March: Discussion starts for the topics which require a more thorough review, including Enchanting, Gemstone Upgrade, Socket Opening, and Epic Pets. These discussions will take more time because of all the system details.
  • Mid to End of April: The next update occurs based on the feedback from early March. Players will have time to test out and experiment with the new progression, including all the changes from the feedback initiative before our next major expansion comes out.
  • May: Host community events (either online or offline) to discuss the content coming in the next major expansion and the feedback received.
  • End of May or Early June: The next update occurs, coinciding with the release of a new major expansion.

Please note that all schedules are subject to change, based on future discussions, development schedules and results.

While we are going through the feedback process, we will continue to run events and release other quality-of-life improvements into the game.

The MapleStory 2 team truly cares about the game and we are moving as fast as we can to make meaningful changes. As we stated last year, we want to take the time to fully review the ecosystem of the game. We are committed to making great changes that affect the entire game, rather than releasing hotfixes to one feature that may negatively impact a different feature.

We have been keeping a weekly cadence of producer blogs to provide regular updates to the community. However, starting with this one, we are going to transition to producer blogs released whenever we have topics to share or discuss in detail with the community. This doesn’t mean we are reducing overall communication since we will have many topics to discuss moving forward with this project.

We are very excited to initiate this new project with the MapleStory 2 community! Please stay tuned for when we share the first discussion topics soon. Your continued constructive feedback will be instrumental in making this project a success. Together we will review and pursue the best solution for the game.
